Scandinavian design has been popular in our country for several years. How could it not, when it perfectly combines minimalism with cosiness. Find out what should definitely not be missing in a Scandinavian bedroom.

What should you know about Scandinavian style?

A few years ago, the Nordic style literally became a phenomenon. It can combine natural materials and simple minimalism. The whole concept is practical, functional and clear. It adds airiness to the home, which you will appreciate especially when you are dealing with every inch of space.

Scandinavian interiors are characterised by minimal furniture. The furniture that is in the room should be practical and efficient, but of course it should also be attractive in terms of design. Don’t expect it to be ornate, but rather simple. If you desire a luxuriously furnished bedroom, take inspiration from this article. Straight lines, geometric shapes and bright colours are exactly what Nordic design is all about. Scandinavian design is one of the top five most popular styles used to furnish bedrooms.

The basic palette consists of neutral colours

The bedroom should be a place of peace and rest. Therefore, it should be airy and generally furnished to promote a peaceful atmosphere. In terms of colours, neutrals are particularly suitable. Avoid aggressive reds or yellows.

In a Scandinavian-decorated bedroom, the following basic colours can appear:

  • white,
  • cream,
  • cream.

To keep the room from looking dull, you can brighten it up with pastel colours. Go for old pink, mustard or green. An accent colour that only appears on accessories can be bold. Try emerald, lighter shades of brown or grey.

Nordic style goes hand in hand with natural materials

Scandinavian design is inspired by nature, which is reflected not only in the colour palette but also in the materials. Solid wood, metal, glass, but also stone and faux fur find a place in the bedroom.

Furniture can be made of solid wood or imitations that resemble solid wood. Go for the look of wood or furniture in white. You will often see combinations of materials. The most popular is the combination of metal and wood, i.e. warm and cold materials that get along perfectly.

Scandi bed

What should a bed in Scandinavian design look like? It should be simple and airy. You can choose a simple bed with a solid frame, but you can’t go wrong with an upholstered bed. The colour of the upholstery should match the requirements of Scandinavian design.

A perfect representative of the Scandinavian bed is the Spectra, which stands out for its clean lines and geometric shapes. In addition, it stands on legs that add airiness. The icing on the cake is the cream-coloured upholstery, which matches the Nordic colour palette.

The Nobilia bed also meets the requirements of the Nordic style. Decent grey upholstery is complemented by wooden legs that represent the natural material. The overall geometric simplicity is supported by the minimalist headboard.

The third representative of the scandi bed from our offer is Bellatrix, which is perfect for bedrooms decorated in light colours. Its chocolate-coloured upholstery will contrast perfectly with the white. The simple design is supported by taller metal legs.

Stools, bedside tables and chests of drawers

The bedroom shouldn’t be too cluttered with furniture, but the beds shouldn’t lack bedside tables with drawers for putting away necessary things. Clothes can be stored in a practical drawer chest. If you hang a mirror above it, you’ll also have a dressing table. As there should be plenty of decorative cushions and cosy throws on the bed, you’ll want stools or chairs where you can simply put these accessories away.

Austerity balanced by accessories

Although the Scandinavian style is rather austere at its core, the accessories add to its cosiness. A Scandinavian bedroom should definitely not be lacking piece rugs. On each side of the bed, there may be a faux fur bed to lower your feet into in the morning.

Bring nature into the bedroom with flowers. According to feng-shui, indoor plants with green and rounded leaves should be in the bedroom. Houseplants with pointed leaves are definitely not suitable. Choose plants that also purify the air.

Light is typical for the Nordic style. Maximum dimness is recommended in the bedroom, but mood lighting and reading lamps are not to be missed. For lamps, choose wire or metal shades. Mood lighting can take the form of LED chains or candle holders.

The Scandinavian-style bedroom will promote relaxation and peaceful rest. Just remember that it should be airy and not over-furnished.
