The 5 most popular bedroom styles. Which one will you choose?

Even if the bedroom is a private space that you don’t put on display like the living room, it doesn’t mean you’ll pay less attention to its furnishings. Quite the opposite! The bedroom is a place of relaxation where you should feel as comfortable as possible. There are several bedroom styles that will literally make this room a dream room. Which ones are they?

Bedroom layout is key

Before we get to the design itself, it’s important to know what criteria your bedroom should meet to ensure you get a good night’s sleep and rest.

  • The bedroom shouldn’t be cluttered with furniture – you can easily get by with just a good quality bed, bedside tables, chests of drawers or wardrobes.
  • Bed placement – according to traditional Chinese feng shui teachings, the bed should not be directly opposite the door, but you should also have a clear view of the door. It is also not recommended to place the bed directly under a window. The bed should be anchored facing the wall and should never stand loose in the space.
  • No electronics – no televisions, computers or mobile phones in the bedroom, in short, no electronics that can disturb an otherwise restful sleep.

Every year, there are recommendations from designers about new trends that will reign not only in bedrooms, but also in the entire home design. Despite their recommendations, however, there are a few bedroom styles that are timeless and not subject to the whims of current trends.

1. Bedroom in boho style

The boho style exudes a very distinctive and cosy feel. A bedroom furnished in this style will become an ideal retreat and a place for you to relax. That’s why this style is characteristic of this style:

  • freedom,
  • Disorganization,
  • looseness,
  • art.

Natural materials have an unquestionable place in a bedroom furnished in this way. Bet on wood, rattan, jute, wool or linen. In terms of colour, don’t be afraid of combinations, but remember that white and shades of brown look best. Home textiles such as curtains, bedding or carpets can carry bold patterns, even oriental ones.

The bed is without a doubt the centrepiece of the bedroom. Boho style is best suited to beds that don’t have high legs. They can be low to the ground, but they must not lack a high and comfortable mattress. A typical example is the Argentina bed, which has low legs and is available in a natural cream-coloured upholstery. If you have high ceilings, feel free to complement the bed with a flowing canopy. The bed should look uncluttered, but in the right way. So feel free to layer fabrics, add lots of cushions, and make the bed without being too perfectionist.

2. Scandinavian style bedroom

The design typical of the Nordic countries has been popular in the Czech Republic for several years. Thanks to its timeless simplicity, it is not expected to give way to other styles in the future.

Its strengths are the emphasis on natural materials, the monochromatic colour palette of light tones in contrast with the more expressive colours of accessories and simple lines. Excessive ornamentation has no place here, yet as a whole, the Scandinavian bedroom style looks cosy. Popular materials include:

  • Wood,
  • Glass,
  • Stone.

In terms of colour, white predominates, but there are also subtle shades of grey, blue or green. Warmer shades are presented in beige and pastel orange, red or yellow. If you want to add a touch of Scandinavian style, go for metallic complementary colours.

A Scandinavian-style bed should be made of solid wood, but you can’t go wrong with an all-upholstered model such as the Sirius bed. Its simple, minimalist lines make it a perfect match for Scandinavian style. Plus, it stands on subtle, narrow legs.

In the scandi bedroom must not miss geometric shapes and pictures in the Nordic style. Add to the atmosphere with candles in subtle glass or metal candle holders.

3. Minimalist bedroom

Minimalism is a timeless design that never goes out of style. It is characterised by clean and straight lines. There should be as little furniture as possible in the bedroom, and what there is should be as functional as possible. Minimalism avoids excessive decoration.

You can feel cosy in a minimalist bedroom, but beware of being too austere. A simply decorated bedroom should definitely not lack decorative items, bet on understated artwork or furniture that becomes a solitaire, for example.

The ideal solitaire piece can be a bed, which should have a simple elegant look. Avoid canopies, an overabundance of decorative cushions and layering of materials. The multifunctional use of the bed is emphasised by the storage space. The Vega bed, which has simple straight lines and subtle chrome legs, will work well with minimalist bedrooms. There is also a storage compartment.

Minimalism requires careful handling of colours. You won’t go wrong if you go for white and other neutral colours in combination with darker shades. Glossy surfaces and chrome elements should not be missed. You can achieve cosiness if you choose a suitable armchair to go with the bed, which can serve as a relaxing reading corner.

4. Rustically furnished bedroom

Who wouldn’t fondly remember holidays spent at grandma’s? Puffy duvets, striped bedding, heavy curtains in the windows and wooden furniture could be found in most of the buildings. The so-called rustic style relies on a certain immutability and constancy of time-honoured values. A bedroom furnished in rustic style breathes comfort and tranquillity.

In a rustically furnished bedroom there should be no lack of solid furniture, which can be painted or carved. It can even bear traces of patina without any concern. The bed in a rustic bedroom should already look comfortable at first glance and entice you to relax. A solid frame is a classic, but it doesn’t have to stay there. A perfectly comfortable bed can also be fully upholstered. At first glance, the Melva bed impresses with its unconventionally designed headboard, which resembles a comfortable eared armchair that is perfect for a rustic interior.

5. Industrial style bedroom

The design of industrial buildings is based on the acknowledgement of imperfections. It doesn’t matter at all if you can see the HVAC ducts, the brick wall or the raw concrete. On the contrary, these elements are desirable. Do you have an old ribbed cast iron heater in your bedroom? Paint it a contrasting color and draw attention to it.

There is no place for ruffles and other romantic decorations in an industrial bedroom. Wooden beams or exposed metal structures will find their place here, you can also choose decorations made of scrap metal.

The Industry bed, which stands on a metal base and is upholstered in a material that resembles leather, will fit into this bedroom. Although the bed looks austere at first glance, it offers perfect comfort thanks to its high mattress.
