Not only the mattress, but also the grid contributes to the quality of sleep. Think of the mattress and the mattress as an inseparable duo, without which you would definitely not get a good night’s sleep.

When is it appropriate to opt for a custom-made bed mattress?

• When you have a custom-made bed – If you have a custom-made bed, it’s worth investing in a custom-made mattress as well. This way, you’ll be sure that it fits your bed perfectly. Custom-made grates are also used in atypical beds that have, for example, an unusual shape or different dimensions than mass-produced beds.
• When you have health problems – especially if you have musculoskeletal problems, or if you’re recovering and spend most of your time in bed – not only is the mattress important for your fitness, but also the mattress topper. The grid should perfectly distribute the pressure exerted on the mattress. You should have maximum comfort when lying in bed. In any sleeping position, you should feel like you are on a cloud. The production of our grates begins with the purchase of wood and ends with the shipment

At Materasso, we manufacture grates completely from A to Z. Every part of the process is inspected to make sure we deliver the best quality. The production of the grating therefore goes through several stages of control.

How is the grid created?

• We’ll buy the wood,
• cut the boards, slats and battens of the necessary dimensions,
• drill the necessary holes in it,
• we provide it with fastening and anchoring material,
• assemble the individual parts,
• we will subject the grate to quality control,
• we’ll send it to the packing center,
• we put the grate in storage and finally ship it out.

We use the latest technology and CNC machines for woodworking, thanks to which the grates are millimetre-accurate. The machines are used to process and work the wood (cut, sanded, milled), from which the boards are made. They are also used for fitting fasteners. The boards are then used to assemble the grid.

However, machines cannot do all the work, so a significant part of the grating is also made by hand. This involves, for example, fitting rubber pockets into which the slats are then inserted. Each part of the grate is joined by hand in our workshop. We deliver grates to Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Italy.

What and what types of grates do we produce?

If you want a good quality grate, it must be made of good quality wood. We use birch and beech plywood (plywood is glued wood), but also beech and spruce solids. The grates from our production are FSC certified, which is a trusted system of tracking and guaranteeing the origin of the material. If you as a customer come across this certificate, you can be sure that the wood used to manufacture the products comes from sustainably managed forests. Our company also boasts other certificates. For example:

• ISO 9001, which is a quality management system.
• We use certified health-safe Swiss glue SIMALFA.
• Certificate of the State Institute for Drug Control, thanks to which some of our mattresses are included in the list of registered medical devices.
• The Öko-Tex Standard 100 certificate is an international testing and certification system for textiles that are produced from health-safe materials.

Types of grates

The choice of mattress is closely related to the type of mattress. That is why we produce mattresses that match the current range of mattresses. Not every mattress can lie on every mattress. What kind of grates can we make for you?

• Slatted grate – is one of the cheaper grates. It is less flexible and therefore suitable for higher mattresses. It is most often combined with spring mattresses. It is mainly made of solid spruce or birch wood.
• Slatted grate – consists of flexible slats, so you can place a thinner mattress on it. The pressure exerted on the mattress is perfectly distributed thanks to the elastic slats. Slatted mattresses are usually combined with foam mattresses. Spruce wood is most often used for the production.
• Tiltable grate – can be slatted or slatted. The hatch makes it easy to get to the storage space under the bed.
• Positioning grates – we produce manually and electrically positioning grates. Positioning grates can be positioned in the head and foot area. They are used by customers who want to enjoy maximum comfort in bed, but also by people who are bedridden for a long time. For long-term bedridden patients, electric motor positioning is the best solution. They can easily adjust the desired inclination with the remote control. The second option is manual control.

New technologies

As we are constantly following the trends in bed furniture, we were the first in Europe to treat our grates with lavender impregnation. This is a 100% natural lavender fragrance oil that we apply to the support part of the slatted grating.

Lavender has repellent properties, so it protects your bed from insects and moths. This increases the hygiene and cleanliness of your bed. In addition, lavender is also used in aromatherapy for its healing effects on insomnia.

What can your custom-made grill be?

If you have a custom grate made, there are a number of factors you can influence.

• Load capacity – the load capacity of the grate should be about 10 to 15 kg more than your weight.
• Type of mattress – have the mattress made according to the type of mattress you have at home. Slatted firm mattresses are suitable for sprung mattresses. For foam mattresses, slatted mattresses are designed and can be reclining.
• Reclining or fixed – choose the design of the mattress according to your sleeping habits and health condition. If you have poor blood circulation to your limbs, joint problems, or are bedridden for long periods of time, you want a reclining grate. You’ll also appreciate it if you watch TV from bed or read before bed. If you don’t need reclining, choose a fixed mattress.
• Size of the grating – the grating must fit the bed frame perfectly. If you have atypical bed dimensions, it is no problem for us to make the perfect grate for it.
