The bedroom is a room where you spend much more time than in the living room. That’s why it’s important to pay careful attention to the design of your bedroom. You need to feel safe and undisturbed in it. In short, the bedroom must invite relaxation. How to achieve this? Choose your colours, accessories, lighting, furniture and especially your bed carefully.
Even in Czech bedrooms, designer beds have found their place, which respect the requirement of efficiency, simplicity and comfort. At first glance, fully upholstered beds look like a large soft pillow and are characterised by a high headboard. The comfortable headboard is especially appreciated by those who like to read or talk in bed. This treatment will bring the need for rest and lounging into your bedroom, which is the main mission of the room.
The mattress, but also the grating, contributes to the comfort to a large extent. You can achieve the comfort you want if you get manually or electrically adjustable mattresses. The relaxation position will thus be completely within your control. The body of the bed is also important.
Continental beds, which you know well from luxury hotels, impress you with a sufficient bed height that makes it easy to get out of bed, but also comfortable to lie down in.
According to traditional Chinese feng shui teachings, the bed should face the wall and be accessible from both sides. Avoid placing it directly under a window. To feel safe in bed, a direct view of the door will reassure you.

Modern bedroom design takes inspiration from minimalism and airiness. Therefore, you should not overcrowd the room with furniture. A bedside table, wardrobe, dressing table and possibly a comfortable reading chair will do. There should be a gap of at least 70 centimetres between the bed and the wall or wardrobe so that you can walk comfortably around it. Wall mirrors are definitely not suitable for the bedroom, as the reflection in them can evoke the presence of a third person. Instead, opt for a mirror on the inside of the wardrobe door.
More and more often, we see our customers furnishing their bedrooms in the style of a hotel room and equipping them with hotel furniture.
The colour inspiration for modern bedrooms comes more from light and pastel tones. Soothing colours include beige, grey, blue or green. A classic that you can never go wrong with is white. Bed linen, curtains, bed upholstery and lampshades should also be in the same colours or at least tone on tone. If you want to brighten up the walls, reach for wallpaper. However, only apply it to part of the wall or one wall. One of the most popular colours is off-white with an embossed floral print in a subtle design.
Try to have as many natural materials in the bedroom as possible. The most popular is wood, which you can use as wall cladding or opt for a wooden floor. In addition, ceramic flooring is also an interesting and modern solution. Wooden lamps or chandeliers are also effective. By the bed, you should have a small rug, perhaps made of faux fur, which you can step on when you get up.

It’s better to keep a low profile when furnishing, but you can finally get creative when planning your lighting. In fact, a bedroom that’s meant to evoke a sense of calm can benefit from several levels of lighting. The first tier is a central ceiling light, which can also be a pendant light. The next stage is a floor lamp in the corner of the room, followed by small lamps on the bedside table and the icing on the cake is tea lights in designer candle holders.
All lighting should be fitted with shades, ideally fabric ones, which will soften and dim the light from the bulb. The colour of the light should be rather warm, evoking a feeling of cosiness.
In the bedroom you should definitely not have:
If you have a small apartment and a study in the bedroom is a must, separate the two spaces with a screen, for example. However, under no circumstances should there be a TV hanging on the wall and other electronics nearby, which could be a computer for example. This is because these devices emit waves that can disturb you while you sleep, but also evoke work, making it impossible for you to get a good night’s rest.

Just like with furniture, you shouldn’t overdo it with decorations. Choose only those that complement the interior in a subtle way. Avoid large paintings with aggressive colours and reach for family photos instead. Simple candle holders will find their place on a chest of drawers or shelf. You can brighten up the wall with an Indian dream catcher and put a scented diffuser with sticks on the bedside table. The best way to fall asleep is to smell lavender, eucalyptus or chamomile.
